Chicago Classical Review was created by Lawrence A. Johnson in May 2009 to provide a comprehensive online source to cover the city’s bustling classical music scene. Born in Chicago, Johnson was a regular freelance music critic for the Chicago Tribune in the 1990s. He served as classical music critic of the South Florida Sun Sentinel for six years, later moving to the Miami Herald. In July of 2008, Johnson started South Florida Classical Review to fill the void in the region’s classical music coverage.
